Another What Breed Question

So my brother found this rooster at work yesterday and didn't know what to do with it. Called me up and asked me if I'd be interested in taking him in..needless to say, I agreed. Not sure what breed, or age, that it could be, so I am turning to the experts. I currently have him quarantined in a separate coop until I can make sure he is ok, but I doubt I can introduce him to my other roosters, Harold and Kumar, which are 1.5 year old Barred Rocks. He's had his spurs removed, so I am afraid he'd be unable to defend himself, so I guess I'll just create another flock, with new hens, to keep him company. TIA

Good on you to take him in. He doesn't look very old - maybe a year or so.
Thinking it is mixed breed - possibly Golden Comet x Black Australorp or something like that!

My wife and I are willing to take in any hens/roosters that need rehoming. We are not in it for meat since we consider them as pets/family. So any chance we get, we take in.

It may just be the picture, but he looks pretty small, like maybe one parent was a bantam. You are wise to keep him away from the other roosters. Fighting between roosters really disrupts the flock and leads to stress and less eggs.

I can't see the spurs well, but I'm guessing that the reason for lack of spurs is that he is young.

Not sure on breed but he is young based on his spur, it's slightly more out than my 4month boy so he should be anywhere around 5-7months old

yes, the BR in the first pic are 1.5 year old roosters
