"Anti-crow" rooster collar - any tips or tricks?

Hi all,

This is the fourth rooster I have tried to save from the stock pot by using an "anti-crow" collar. I have read several threads here and understand that people have had mixed results with the collar. For those of you that have had success, are there any tips or tricks that you have found help to make it successful? I would sure appreciate it, as I have tried different collars and roosters and never had any luck saving my boys!

I heard from one person on here (I think it was the chicken calendar contest) where they used a piece of velcro to mute crowing. Maybe that could help?
