Does anyone know the duck dose for tetracycline injection for my 2.5 year old Peking duck who just got bitten by a coyote.

I have seen two different dosage recommendations and since I have never used tetracycline I'm not sure which would be best. They are 20-40mg/kg and 50mg/kg (Plums veterinary handbook dosage) every 3-5 days for intermuscular injection BUT poultry can have severe local reactions to intermuscular injections of tetracycline which is why it is usually recommended to dose orally.

The LA 200 injectable oxytetracline if that is what you have, is an injectable form that is given into the breast muscle once every 3 days, since it is long acting. 1/4 ml equals 50 mg, and you could probably use up to 1/2 ml on a grown duck. I’m not sure how a long acting injectable drug works given orally.
