I'm going to give my chicken antibiotic as a trial determined/suggested by my other thread. It's for 1 chicken. 12 weeks old. She's in with 1 other chicken. I got Duramycin 10 powder. They did not have any tablets.
How do I mix it for a small amount. My plan was to just give it to her by syringe as she is not drinking by herself so I don't see how she'll get any benefit that way. I worked it out as 400mg/gallon. Does that sound correct? But with the small amounts she gets at a time I'll never get a proper dose in her. And once mixed it only lasts 24 hours.
My second question is, what will happen if I do put it in the drinking water and the other one gets it.
I really don't have a way to separate them. I already had to buy a separate coop/run for the 2 smaller ones until I can integrate them safely. Long story....
Thank You so much for all the help from this great site. Wish I found it before I got chickens.......

Duramycin soluable powder 400mg dosage is 1/2 tablespoon per gallon of water for 7-14 days. Make a new batch daily.

Okay, I'm sorry I didn't break it down better on the other thread...all you need to do is figure out the amount to add to the water you want to make up. Now I've done this quickly so you want to re-check me, please. 1 gallon = 128oz to that you would add the 1/2 tbls. or 1 1/2 tsps. to get the 400mg. Half of that is 3/4 tsp to 64 oz. of water or 1/2 gallon. Half of that would be 3/8 tsp. to 1 qt. or 32 oz.. I got down to 10.6666oz. and that would be 1/8 tsp..

I don't think you really need to worry about the others getting the medicated water. the 400mg dose isn't going to cause any problems for them and as they are with this chick who is 'sick' it may help. Give the sick one as much of the water as she will take. It's only going to help figure out what is wrong as I said in the ohter thread.
