I noticed ants (the small, regular ones) in the coop yesterday when I was cleaning. There is no food or water in there. It looked like they were carrying off bits of poop.
How can I control this without harming my girls?
Thanks in advance for your advice and help.

Food grade DE should help. You can read this and this.

Also you can get the blue artificial sweetener packets (aspartame) and sprinkle it where the ants are. Aspartame was originally formulated to be ant poison. They take it back to their nest, eat it, feed it to others and die.

Thanks! I'm actually going to feed store today to get some DE for the girls to dust in and such.

I just ordered more the other day. DE helps alot. I got a bit lazy and the ants moved in. After getting back to regularly using it the ants are dissapearing.
The only downside is that DE is not affective wet. It needs to be dry to work.

Now, I just need the mosquitos to dissapear.
