I no chickens eat ants..but we have way to many and they don't really eat them like that...I've tried DE it's not doing anything..what else can I use to kill ants around the coop..heck I need something safe around my whole yard too.

liquid bait stations in/around the coop and granules directly over the ant hill both work well. Either one should be reasonably chicken safe, but I would still avoid letting the chickens have direct access to either if possible. The bait stations are small and could be blocked off from chickens pretty easily with a brick or block of wood. Chickens might want to eat the granules (mine did), but the granules disappear within 12-24 hours since the ants take them into the nest, so you would only need to temporarily keep them away from the ant hill.
