So, I’ve got 12 chickens about 5-6 wks old. I’m looking to get a couple ducks. I’ve been talking to friends of mine as well as a couple other online forums. I explained that I’m not looking to raise a huge flock of ducks, just looking for a couple. Question is, am I able to raise just 2 ducks and have them be happy? I’ve gotten a lot of negative feedback/input from several people. Please, no negativity. I’m looking for honest opinions without the “only 2 ducks, you’re a bad duck mama!” “If you can’t raise at least 5-6, don’t even get any!” Nice, polite advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If they're both female, yep. You can do just 2. Personally I'd do at least 3 in case one gets sick or dies, but 2 females should be just fine

You can totally have only 2 ducks, as long as they're both female.

yep i have 5 but they are in a group of 2 and a group of 3 because of the male/female ratio! they are all super happy

Ducks are perfectly fine in pairs. Based on my history with them, don’t go with Campbells because they can be intolerant and bullyish towards anything else. Same with Muscovies to a lesser extent. I let all my birds out every day though, they only stay in the coop at night, so I don’t know how accurate this might be. Hope it helps though.
