Any advise for worming a large flock? And Vent Gleet..

DE only works as an insecticide by absorbing lipids from exoskeletons and thus causing dehydration. The moisture from to the digestive track the second it is consumed renders it useless. I highly recommend Valbazen for the first deworming, then a rotation of Safeguard and Valbazen.

@aart @SunkenRoadFarms Ok whatever it works for me and unworms them so I know what I do works so im done arguing about it because its just about chicken deworming if you think about it its nothing to argue about we all have our ways of doing things like my mom says _there is more than one way to get milk from a cow _ so ya kknow we allhave our ways and this is what I prefer and I know it works and it been proven so im done arguing and hope you have a good day

Thank you to everyone, we have always used DE but not the white, I can not find it around here, so will be looking online for it. Read so many posts on worming not sure what we will get.. Safeguard or Ivomec Eprinex Pour-On. .. I like the food coloring idea :) /either way we will be worming tomorrow.

Try looking around the pesticide anyway I don't know if the red or grey works but the white does :-) ....also here is a link to where I get my chicken information from and she's really experienced also she has a link to where she bought her DE from at the bottom the page (GOODLUCKK! !)... :-) :-) well here's her chicken deforming video... http://beckyshomestead.com/worming-chickens-naturally

Who knows maybe she has some other videos on things you might question about chickens and I hope I helped

You can put piprazine in the water; that will treat roundworms fairly well. It's the only approved wormer for chickens in the USA at this time. Off-label drugs that work are out there; I use Ivermectin injectable as an oral drug, one ml. per 80 lbs. body weight, and withhold eating the eggs for about a week. Works fine for everything except tapeworms, and it's used in people too. Unfortunately there's nothing available for anything except roundworms that's approved. Checking a fecal sample at the vet's will give you some direction. I NEVER take in birds from outside; too many disease issues possible! Mary

Thanks Mary, and yes we have learned our lesson, no more girls we have not raised ourselves. We have never had problems like this before. Our egg orders had a huge jump so we tried buying layers for the first time..
Until I get white DE we are using the gray & there is a noticeable difference in how they are acting, it must be helping them My husband got Strike lll for the worming. Since we sell our eggs we really did not want to use something that is not approved. (No offence to anyone) I have read they may not eat it, if this is the case I will mix it & their feed with something I know they will eat.
After we get straightened around here & all the girls are settled down we will be hatching our own, can't wait.
Thank you to everyone for all of your advice.
