Any Ayam Ketawa (Ayam Gaga) Breeders In The US?

I contacted Greenfire and they are toying with the idea but it probably won't be until late 2012 aor 2013. For those who don't know, they are a black chicken, with black comb, feet, beak and legs.

Just be patient. If they do import them--they'll be all the rage and super-expensive for a year or two. Then the market will be become saturated and you can get them for $10/dozen on eBay for hatching eggs--just like the Coronation Sussex.

I think it will take a short time honestly, but in that time it will be hard to find them. For example if they got a longcrowing breed, they'd be neat sure and expensive yes, but VERY few people would actually want them, so when they get kicked off the list, good luck finding the few and far between people who actually got some before they left Greenfire. It's sadly the truth - Only the cool colors of common breeds seem to make it well, such as Sussex and Orpingtons. I'm sure Legbars will do well too though.

At least, that's my two cents

Not likely going to happen anytime in the near future. At present, they only exist in Indonesia and other small areas where it remains illegal to import from due to disease. So, at this time, any known to exist in the US are likely smuggled in and would be confiscated but more likely, they would die before anyone could brag they had them. The Ketawa in Indonesia are not a healthy breed.

I have Tomaru longbrowers. Hoping to someday develop something like the laughing crow using my Tomaru
