I'm currently bird-less and have to moved into a new area with no neighbours behind (just a herd of bison) on a one acre lot.

I know I can keep a few birds but want a breed that makes less noise (if it exists).

Thanks in advance

It will be interesting to hear the responses to your question. I asked the same thing about a year ago, on the old BYC forum. At that time, I think the Brahmas got the most votes for being a "quieter" breed.

Seramas, D'Uccles and Japanese are pretty quiet but they are small too

I got a book it says Polish, Orpingtons, Brahmas, and D'Uccles are quiet

My Polish are not quiet

I have to say the quietest here at my home are the Japanese, then my Silkies. (NOT the roo

my D'Uccles are quiet - well cept for Popcorn when she needs to "go" (lay an egg)

but its not THAT loud. Oh and the ROO who can get a good bit of steam when crowing.

My RIR drown out everyone else, and if they're not making a racket the Leghorns are.....
I almost never here loud noises from my Orpingtons.
