Hi,

I have an 8 week old sizzle chick. The papa is a smooth splash silkie and the mama a black sizzle. I am having a hard time finding any pictures of sizzle or silkie chicks that have the striped horizontal patterning of black and white on the feathers. There is also solid grey and white on chest and head. I am not sure what exact name of color my little guy/girl "ROLO" falls into? Anyone see or have a chicken like it in color? Any help is appreciated.

Almost looks like a blue partridge

Well, I showed a picture of chick to the breeder I purchased the parents from and she could not pin point a color because of the striping pattern. She has tons of partridge, and NONE of them look like Rolo. It is not the colors per say but the pattern that makes it unique I think. I was hoping someone else might have seen a silkie or sizzle like it and knew the name of the patterning and color combination.

Thanks for your help though. Also still trying to determine if a pullet or roo. I know the picture does not make it easy to tell. From the mildness and sweet disposition it seems like a pullet. HOPE SO! :) Even for a sizzle, it is especially mild. They are such sweet chickens.

Maybe they are just baby feathers? My easter egger bantam had some pretty nice barring then about 12 weeks old it all of a sudden just vanished and she turned into a pale, pretty blue wheaten like color. Maybe this barring is just more vivid that what it will be as an adult? Take lots of pictures every few days or so incase the color does change, it sure is fun to see the progression. Or lack of.

Thank you Happy Houdan, we r partial. :) our very first hatch ever. I am beginning to think Island chick could be onto something. Maybe the coloring could change. I have been taking pics every week as it has grown. The coloring has just gotten more pronounced as Rolo has gotten bigger. I have noticed my sizzles were pretty true to color as they were when young however I never underestimate anything anymore. I shall wait and see. :) Thanks all for feedback. :) this was my first time posting. Might explain why I might have gotten the exact forum for posting wrong.
