Don't beat yourself up about eating them. Try it, and know they grew up with fresh air and a good life while they were here. Do look into the meat bird section and figure out how to do it the best way so you aren't disappointed with the quality of meat though. Such as using the right temp for scalding so the skin doesn't fall apart/feathers come off easy, and resting the meat so you can chew it.
