Any concerns using Bird-Bath De-Icer for chicken waterer

I have not seen much discussion regarding using bird-bath de-icers to keep the chicken water unfrozen.

I am planning to use the Farm Innovators C-50 150-watt model in a 3-gallon nipple waterer bucket. The instructions say it is safe for all bird-baths including plastic and that to save power it only turns on when the temp falls to 34-degrees.

Do you expect it will work fine or are there some concerns?

thanks!

I thought about buying a similar one I saw at my local farm store. However, I didn't because I didn't like how it had a lot of exposed copper and warned of having to check the water often for build-up of deposits given off by it. This one may be different. I ended up buying this one:

It seemed like it was better suited for sitting in a bucket, and hopefully lower maintenance. I haven't used it yet, so I can't say how well it works.

The kind I have looks like an upside down pie plate. The heating coils are on the bottom. It works great. You just set your metal waterer on top of it. I got it at Tractor Supply a couple years ago. Chickens are so curious, I'd hate to have something they could get at....
