Any first timers??

This is my first time trying to hatch eggs. I think I have Ancona and duclair duck eggs. I made an incubator and set my eggs on the 23rd. I joined the Easter Hatch-a-long but just wondering if there are any other inexperienced hatchers??

This is my first time incubating and I'm a nervous wreck! I have goose and Muscovy duck eggs set. I'm using a Brinsea Octagon to incubate and a Brinsea Hatchmaker for the hatching - hopefully!!

Good Luck with your hatch - if you are like me you'll be pacing the floor and counting the days...!!!

I knew I wasn't the only one! I candled my eggs today. Alittle early but I just wanted to get a reference on what I should be able to see or not see. I saw a small dot and veins coming from all 3 of the ones I've checked. I saved the others to candle later because my husband wanted to see them. It's only been 3 days so I'm definitely breathing alittle easier knowing that everything's going good so far.

What kind of humidity are you keeping? Ive kept mine in the range of 40%-50% for now. I have read so many different things that I just hope mine is good.

I am trying to do a dry incubation - hope that is the correct term! My humidity is about 29 - 31% and I mist the eggs once daily. I won't raise the humidity until the eggs start to pip when I will pop them into the hatcher where I hope I can keep the humidity well up - about 80%. I'm so very grateful for this thread 'Goose Incubation & Hatching Guide - Completed!!!!' it has become daily reading for me!

Isn't it wonderful to candle the eggs - I still can't get over how miraculous it is to see this tiny life inside growing so quickly!

I read about dry hatching and decided to just try hatching them the regular way this time. I might try dry hatching next! I love to candle them. The whole family gathers 'round and watches.
I think I've started an addiction!
