Kinda new, was wondering how you know it’s a cockerel?

Cockerels have more white between the black bars and hens are darker, just like the barred rock.

I agree, Bielefelder cockerel. Here’s a pic of males and females:

The lighter chicks with the white dots on their heads are males, and the ones with the dark stripes on their heads are females. I love Bielefelders, especially cockerels/roosters.I once had one that followed me everywhere.
