I was wondering if anyone could throw out some guesses on the breeds of 3 of my chicks?

The first two I got at the feed store, in a bucket that just said "Bantams" and it was just a huge mix of different breeds. I got two that I am assuming are buff Cochins, but I'm not sure what these two are. Any guesses?

Also, does anyone know about how big they will get? I'm just curious. I've never had bantam breeds before, and these guys are TINY, especially the white one.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!!

Chick #1

It has brown legs

Chick #2

This one was hatched from an egg by my broody hen. The man that I got the eggs from breeds Ameraucanas. Some of his hens are Production Reds, some are Ameraucanas, but ALL of his roosters are Ameraucanas. This chick hatched from a blue Ameraucana egg, so it should be a pure Ameraucana. I've never seen a solid black Ameraucana before, though. Is there such a thing?

Chick #1 I'd say golden laced wyandotte

Chick #2: not sure

Chick#3: Yes, there are pure black Ameraucana's. But looking at the chicks legs they are the wrong color for a true Ameraucana. Your chicks legs are a willow color, they should be slate. I'm guessing this is a mixed Ameraucana. I could be wrong though.

Thanks.

All of his mixed breed chicks have orange legs. This chick has the same color of legs that all the rest of my Ameraucanas do. My only chicken that has slate colored legs is my Polish.

i agree

chick 1 GLW
2 Unsure
and 3 Ameraucana... it just could be a odd hatch you just never know sometimes but acording to what OP sayd it seems and looks like a ameraucana

I pretty sure your first is actually a golden seabright - especially given that these are bantam breeds. It will be a very "lean" appearing bird with more gold than black lacing. The males and females have the same color pattern due to conversion of male hormone into female hormone in this breed.

Okay just want to state this so things get cleared up - Ameraucanas should never have orange or green legs, should always have blue legs. Ameraucanas only come in certain recognized colors and black is one of them. If any of your "Ameraucanas" are odd brown, gold, or brown/gold and black colors, or the males are black and white or yellow and black or red and black, they're likely not Ameraucanas but instead the very common and easily confused and mislabeled "Easter Egger."

The top chick is a Sebright, not fully sure on the second, the bottom is likely an Easter Egger telling by the leg color so far.

That little creamy one looks just like my banty ameraucana. more like a wheaton color. she's about a pigeon size. a fat pigeon. ha Makes me want chicks again!!! Hurry up spring.
