I got a selection of pot luck bantam eggs, there were 8 different breeds. I only got 4 eggs and only 2 hatched...not a bad hatch for shipped eggs that had saddled air sacs. So process of elimination I think they may either be light Sussex bantams or Chamois Poland chicks...anyone any thoughts?? They are 1 day old, I have looked at wing feathers and think they are both girls.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not seeing polish influence as there is no evidence of beginning top knot.

I think it likely they are the Light Sussex. The down color and general shape matches that, though that is a very common down color for many white or light silver breeds.

Wing sexing will not be accurate in this instance. That is only for fast feathering breeds bred to slow feathering breeds and only in determining males from females in that hybrid line.

2 cuties. Congratulations.

Ah thank you. I just assumed it would be the same, back to the drawing board! I really don’t mind what they are, they will live at my mums when big enough with her other 3 chickens.
