Hello everyone! I am new to the chicken world, although I have been reading this forum off and on for about a year. I live a few miles outside of a very small town. My DH and I have two kids, ages 12 and 9. They raise pigs to show at our county fair, and last year my youngest decided he wanted to add some chickens to the mix, which I was all for. DH and DS are in the process of building our chicken coop. We placed an order at a local feed store, but just learned that the chicks won't be here until April 30th. We have some concerns that although he will be able to show them at fair, they won't place very well due to their small size. Then we heard another feed store got some live chicks in, so we ran over today. They only had 6 left! We went ahead and took 4 bantams, although we weren't planning on having any bantams.
My question is, are there any hatcheries that we can order from that will deliver in the next couple of weeks? Or am I going to just have to be patient and wait for other ones to come and hope they grow fast?
