Hello everyone! I am new to the chicken world, although I have been reading this forum off and on for about a year. I live a few miles outside of a very small town. My DH and I have two kids, ages 12 and 9. They raise pigs to show at our county fair, and last year my youngest decided he wanted to add some chickens to the mix, which I was all for. DH and DS are in the process of building our chicken coop. We placed an order at a local feed store, but just learned that the chicks won't be here until April 30th. We have some concerns that although he will be able to show them at fair, they won't place very well due to their small size. Then we heard another feed store got some live chicks in, so we ran over today. They only had 6 left! We went ahead and took 4 bantams, although we weren't planning on having any bantams.

My question is, are there any hatcheries that we can order from that will deliver in the next couple of weeks? Or am I going to just have to be patient and wait for other ones to come and hope they grow fast?

www.cacklehatchery.com Call in your order and they can give you the available dates for the chicks you want
www.mcmurrayhatchery.com lists the dates each breed is available below the description.

Don't lose all hope. You can probably pick up some good started birds this spring. Our 4-H states that they have to be owned by the member before June 1st. So check with your club. You can also advertise for what you need and maybe find someone with excess to sell.

Ideal Hatchery does a good job in prompt orders, just call them and see what they have avaiilable.

McMurray, I love their website which tells you of their availablity....if you are pressed for time, they would be the one to help you.

Thanks for the suggestions. I ran back over to the feed store, and they had just gotten in more chicks. We picked up a few more, so I think we will be okay for fair. Thanks again for the help!

I'm late coming to this topic but I ordered from Hoover Hatchery on a Friday and they shipped my chicks the next Wednesday. I ordered 6 different varieties and they had them all hatching that next week. I was going to have to wait six (6) weeks to get the same breeds from some of the other hatcheries. All of my chicks arrived alive and are still healthy and growing fast (after 3 weeks). I was very pleased with Hoover.

If you are looking for antibiotic free chicks, we can ship Rhode Island Reds, White Plymouth Rocks or Red Sex Links today or next week. Prices are very competitive. Our direct email address is BabyChicks4Sale@aol. or you can call (727) 388-9456
