I know there’s tons of these posts but I’m just curious if anyone with more experience raising silkie chicks can help give me some ideas on if I have a hen or rooster. I was reading on how to tell by wing feathers coming in if anyone is familiar with that. Thank you!

I have tried the wing sexing method with several batches of silkie chicks, and it does not work for them. I've raised this breed for over five years, and still have not come across a way to sex them before 8-12 weeks (besides paying for a DNA test). Hoping yours is a pullet, though (unless you want a roo)! Come back in a little while with pictures of the comb, crest, and side.

Aw man I read something online about maybe being able to tell with silkies wings and I specifically picked this one cause her feathers seemed longer and more rounded than the others so hopefully that method didn’t just backfire on me lol we shall see eventually I guess!
