Recently, I had to thin out my turkeys, too many Toms, for my hens. One of the Toms was given to a friend, who has done me several favors. This morning, he wrote me a message, asking if I knew what might be wrong with Pancho. I have no clue. So, I turn to the folks, who seem to have the best answers.
Does anyone recognize this issue with Pancho?

He's a very sweet boy. I'm thinking similar to an impacted crop in a chicken, but, I just don't know. I'm new at poultry, with tons to learn.

It looks like an infection or a spider bite or an air sac injury. The crop is down where the neck joins the breast, not up in the neck. If he were mine I'd examine his neck closely for a depression or bullseye that may indicate a bite, feel the texture (does it feel like a mostly deflated balloon, like a loose sack of water, like a sponge, or hard?) and I'd put him on broad spectrum antibiotics for 5 days for good measure.

Interesting story on the inflated bird. As it turned out, they have pretty good reason to believe it was snake bite, but that the snake got the worst end of it. This morning, I found out that late yesterday, they found a well dismemboweled copperhead, near wher the turkey hangs out, and it seems that the turkey likely got bit, by the copperhead.
