I am keeping two of my Easter Egger Roos. The one pictured here I was thinking of breeding with 3 blue andalusion pullets. My question is will the coloring from the rooster since aster eggers are basically mixed breeds? Any Idea what I will get here? Also, if the Roo carries the blue egg gene would it be possible for the chicks to get it too or will they simply still lay white eggs? Not sure if white is dominate?

if this is the wrong forum feel free to move it!

It depends on the genetics of the cockerels-- there is no way to tell if they have the blue egg gene or not until their daughters lay. If he does have that gene, the eggs from an EE x Andalusian cross will be blue or green. If he doesn't, probably white or tinted.

Also, the blue hen in that picture isn't an Andalusian. Probably a blue Orpington. Andalusians are more like a blue Leghorn, skinnier with the big white earlobes.

Maybe you can see them enough mixed in with Brahmas

From what I've read up on it is egg color is more like mixing paint. If you cross a blue egg layer with a brown egg layer you get green egg layers. I would assume if the dad has the blue egg gene and you need him with a white egg layer. Then the eggs would be a diluted blue.
