Any luck selling mixed breed hatching eggs?

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck selling mixed breed hatching eggs the only purebred pair I will have is a pair of silkies. I do plan on selling the silkie offspring but I was wondering about the eggs from the others in my flock they will all be silkie mixed with egg laying breeds. Has anyone ever sold mutt chicken eggs or chicks before? How did you go about doing it?

I've sold mixed breed eggs, but only to folks who had an active broody and were looking for eggs to go under her. I've usually bartered, or charged a pretty nominal fee--I'm really a broody enabler, lol.

Since they're mixed with silkie, that could draw some folks that would not want mixed breed dual purpose birds. I'd say all you can do is advertise them and see what the response is.

Oh good so I have a chance of someone buying them, it's been a goal of mine for awhile to make some kind of profit from my chickens.

You can sell your eggs for consumption to make a profit as well. I have such a high demand for eggs my 35 birds can't keep up. I just started building a larger coop this weekend to add more birds for more eggs.

You can, but not for much. There isn't much of a market for mixed breed chickens so the people interested would have to want to keep the chickens for themselves... and silkies aren't really a meat bird so you also lose the people who are wanting to eat them.

I don't know about eggs, but I bought mixed breed young chickens at our local auction. The price was right and they were cute (funny little mohawks), healthy looking young chickens. I keep my chickens purely for eggs and my own enjoyment, so their breed didn't matter much to me. That being said, I didn't pay much for them, so I wouldn't be expecting to make big dollars on selling them. I'm currently incubating some of their eggs and will probably take the chicks I don't keep down to the auction, but I don't expect to make much on them, just find them a home.

I really have no problem selling my eggs locally for folks to hatch. IMO, once my eggs leave my property, they can go straight to the frying pan, or into an incubator. I can understand wanting to sell mutt eggs at a higher price if they're intended for hatching, but that goes against my philosophy of wanting to enable folks to start their own back yard flocks. And, this statement is IN NO WAY a condemnation of anyone who sells mixed breed hatching eggs. If you can get a higher price for them that's just great! I had a guy buy some of my eggs late last fall. He set them in his incubator, and called me about 10 days later, saying that he had 100% fertility, in spite of a power outage of 18 hours. In the spring, I'll put out a sign to sell both eggs and chicks. May advertise on Craig's list as well. No chick will leave my property without a conversation with the buyer regarding their set up, and the understanding that they are buying chicks "as is". They will also have a written fact sheet regarding chick care. No chicks will be taken back due to biosecurity issues.

I sell mine for 10-12 dollars I do if you buy one 12 two or more 10 each
