Ok,my daughter was sick all day today,so I was only able to feed and water my chickens this morning,and not able to check on them as often as usual. I was just about to go out and feed again,because I seen one out and about, when there was a knock on the door. The old guy that walks every afternoon with his dog,said his dog just got a hold of one of my roosters and killed it. He said sorry and he's got it in the back of the truck and what did I want him to do with it...I said (by this time balling my eyes out
) that I wanted him because I would bury him,my chickens are my pets just like your dog is yours. Needless to say it wasn't my rooster,it was my favorite hen Betsy. I was really crying after that. I was nice though,even though I was so incredibly mad that his dog killed my baby in my yard!!! He even got a little teary eyed after he seen how sad I was. So I took it easy one him,besides,I really didn't want compensation at that time,all I wanted was my beloved Betsy back.
So anyway,I want a dog now for sure,we have been thinking about getting one for a month or so,because we have some opossums,and coons too. I need a dog that will guard my livestock/pets for me. A dog that will be protective of his yard. Any suggestion??? I am so sad right now,that I can't even think. I know one thing I better not see his dog in my yard again,or I will get mean with him. He said she's ran in my yard barking before,so he should have known better than to have her off a leash.
