Hi, y'all!
Here's the rub...
It's been HOT here in So. Cal and my ladies seem to be feeling the effects. They have plenty of shade and water, but I'm wondering if any of you pollo fanatics have any suggestions on some frozen treats for the girls?
Is it safe to feed then frozen fruits and whatnot?
Thank you for any and all ideas/ cautions/ concerns...

All right!
Now we're talking!
Frozen jugs will be started tomorrow.
Watermelon willie started tomorrow also.

If I froze watermelon chunks in cubes do you think the birds would get hurt trying to peck them out?

Thanks y'all!

I fill empty Gatorade bottles about 3/4 of the way full of water, and freeze them. During the warmer part of the day, I float the Gatorade bottles in their water buckets. Rinse, refreeze, repeat the next day. Next, I take gallon jugs, and punch several small holes up near the top, on one side, then fill them with water, a little below the holes, and freeze them. During the hot part of the day, I make a wet spot, in each run, then lay the frozen gallon jug in the wet spot, holes down. As the ice in the jug melts, it drips into the wet spot, keeping it nice, and cool.

Cold salad, cold, or frozen chopped up vegetables (peas, carrots, greens, broccoli, corn, cucumber, etc.), and fruits (berries, watermelon, apples, peaches, plums, etc.) are good treats on very hot days. Don't overdo it on the treats.
