I dont have any roosters, but I may try ONE if I get more hens.

I think the Barnevelder roosters are the most beautiful. Not sure about temperment. (yes I know they are all different..)

If you have had any experience with this breed would you kindly chime in?

Blessings,
Laura

No personal experience, but a few people told me the breed in general is pretty flighty.

Some similarly colored (and still even rare breed), well tempered breeds include Partridge Rocks, Wheaten Marans, and Partridge Wyandottes.

We have a barnevelder rooster that is about 1 year old. You could not find a better rooster. He only crows once every couple of days and is not aggressive at all. He is very entertaining to watch. He is a little bit, big and clumsy when it comes to getting up on the roost

Ohh thats good news--

Any way you could put a picture up of him?? I'd love to see him!

Here is Barney the rooster

Barney is beautiful! I'm hoping to add Barnevelders to my flock this year and I'll be going straight run, so there's a good chance I'll end up with one (or more).. I hope he's as handsome as Barney.
