Any Winter Crops I Can Still Plant for My Chickens

I'm sure this has been discussed, but I can't find anything. Every search of 'Winter Chicken Food Crops' just gives me cover crops. I live in Planting Zone 6 or 7 and the only crops I hear of people planting this time of year is turnips. Being the first of October, is there anything I can plant here, right now, that will supplement my feeding into the winter months? And if there is, how do you feed it to them, does it have to be cooked, cut or prepared in any way? Thanks BYC Crew!

it is kind of late to plant anything in Zone 6. Perhaps arugula, but harvesting microgreens for chickens is a lot of work. How about just fodder, wheat, rye, corn, pea sprouts? equally healthy, and you can grow them in your laundry room.

Maybe try some broad beans and peas? Those should be able to grow in pretty cold weather, or build a green house.

Look into Territorial Seed co, they have tons of info. Maybe try lettuces and radishes, or sprouting seeds indoors & feed them sprouts of sorts.
