I have free range rouens and you can tell it's that time if the year again......it's like an easter egg hunt at my house. Here an egg, there an egg, everywhere there's eggs!!!! I cracked 5 of them this weekend and 4 were fertile. Anybody else have this going on?

Hey rainplace...we have a 2 1/2 acre pond in our backyard and they live there year round. My DH built 3 laying boxes this weekend. We're really hoping they'll use them. We lose 1 or 2 hens every year when they go broody. We put them on their island where we feed them so hopefully they'll use them. At this point, they're still kinda leary of getting close to them. They definitley son't like change!!

Gotta LOVE the Easter egg hunt when everyone is out and about!! It's like that here until we get new pens built to separate everyone so our Easter egg hunt is on about an acre with porches and buildings to lay under, the barn, haystack, under buggies and a variety of vehicles, and now some sort of tallish weed that nothing will eat!! LOL!! It's kinda fun since I have a variety of eggs to hunt for, but a little frustrating, as well. Rainplace, you are lucky that your's lay so early!! I have been finding random eggs as late as 4pm by our pond otherwise I would keep them confined at night until mid-morning, too!! Happy Hunting, Lalady1101
