I'm planning to use the deep litter method on wood chips, and I'm thinking it would be nice to set aside some of that composted sawdust/poo for growing mushrooms. Any advice? Anyone doing this? What kinds should I innoculate? Should I sterilize or just stir some innoculant into a slow composting poo pile? Anyone know anything about this?

I don't know, but if you google it you'll gets hits with info.

You'll have to post your results. Lots of shroom lovers here. The Morel posts will be starting soon.

You won't be gagging when I invite you over for a mushroom omelet. You'll say, "From whence came these tasty and delicious mushrooms on my plate?" And I'll say, "From the same place as the omelet. My chickens' behonkers." And you'll say, "Now I understand your brilliance. I too shall plant food in poo."
