I have a opportunity to rescue two male alpacas and wanted to let them have run of my side property where I keep my pens. Not sure if they are intact yet and won't know till sat when I got to meet them. I have a small herd of goats who are due to kid next month and a few dif coops. I would be nice if I could let the birds free range with less worry about coyotes. If they don't work out as guardians ... Well I'll have two more pets lol. Coyotes have taken a few of my prized birds and hubby is getting frustrated with what he sees as money getting thrown to feed the wildlife

We raise alpacas and while they really, really don't like dog-like animals they aren't suitable as guardians. The coyotes are just as likely to kill alpacas as they are goats and chickens. Now, their much larger relatives, llamas, can be great guard animals.
