I live outside anderson In
Thank you

Im a not sure what the laws would be but i will look as I am in columbus and want to do the same thing.. I however charge 3.00 a lb.. Frfom what i have heard though as long as you are selling under a certain number ( In the thousands i think) of processed birds then you dont need to be liscensed or USDA inspected..

I found this on the net

wow great stuff I appreciate your doing that for me, that last one cleared it up.... Butcher on my friend hahaha

Well,
I too am in Indiana... just want to be sure, as I see you have decided it is 'legal' to butcher here in Indiana under those federal provisions. However, that document says that STATES may also regulate?

Is this the case here in Indiana? I just want to be sure before I dive in. I would be that Producer in the sub-1000 class. I want to raise butcher and sell locally from my premises. Sound legal? Anyone else have Indiana input?

You'll want to contact the Indiana State Board of Animal Health's Meat & Poultry Inspection Division.
The contact is: 317-544-2405.
(The previous post had the old phone number; BOAH recently moved.)
Or, go online to: http://www.in.gov/boah/2332.htm for access to state laws.

About 3 years ago, the Indiana State Department of Health revised the food code and now requires that foods old at retail must come from an inspected source.
Good luck!
