Anyone bought Black Copper Marans from Meyer

Anyone that has ordered black copper marans from Meyer Hatchery able to verify how dark the eggs are? I saw some people post that Murray McMurray fbcm have nice dark eggs when considering hatchery stock. I have one from Cackle and we get darker eggs, but nothing to get excited about. I see Meyer has some chicks available for the same date I already have chicks coming on and I was going to have them add one on if anyone has experience with their fbcm and they have darker eggs than I am getting currently.

Sorry, can’t tell you about the BCs but I got a Splash from them last year. Big beautiful friendly girl. Lays large eggs, somewhere like medium ? Darkness on the Marans scale.

We have one of those coming as well. We did not have any luck with those last year. We had 2 splash Marans not make it through shipping, so glad to hear someone else had better luck with those.

Sorry to hear that. I was fortunate to have all my chick shipments last year arrive alive and mostly healthy. The only thing that was off was a Jubilee Orp from Meyer that died about a week or so after arrival. Started off apparently healthy but then started having her feet knuckle under and sitting on her hocks - closest thing I could figure was a B vitamin(?) deficiency that manifests in chicks a week or so after hatch (nutrition lacking in shell and/or mom hen, I think).

My Meyer order in 21 was such a disaster. Chicks got sick within days - with avian encephalomyelitis, getting weak, sitting on hocks and falling over, and vibrating when I picked them up. Babied them and 3 made a full recovery, one took weeks and weeks of intensive care, and somehow ended up with a misformed eye. She died shortly after coming into lay. Now my Black Copper Marans is going through her first fall molt and sprouting white tipped feathers on her back… What on earth?

I have gotten a BCM from Meyer's and she just laid an egg...

It is the dark brown in the left lower. The OE Egg middle top is Meyer, the far left white is a brown leghorn Meyer.
