Anyone else have 2 hens raising chicks?

I had a broody hen and right before the eggs hatched, my other hen that hatched 2 chicks 4 months ago inserted herself into the nest box. Now the chicks have two moms. They do everything together, including cramming into the nest box together with the chicks at night.
is this common?

I've had it a few times. The chicks seem to fare even better with two mommas! It can happen pretty much any time two non-aggressive hens happen to brood at the same time.

I had this happen last Fall and the hens got along great! They shared the chicks and the parenting with no problems. I had a bad experience when it happened this week, though. The two hens got along fine for the first day or so after the chicks hatched, but then they started fighting and had to be separated. Glad it is going well for you!

Thanks so much for the input! The girls have worked together in a great way, all five chicks are doing well! It's been nice to have 2 hens watching over them.
