I have been wanting to repaint my kitchen and have been looking online at wallpaper borders that have chickens on them. I have found some cute ones. I also want dishes with chickens on them. I have a ceramic kiln and was thinking about just doing my own dinnerware.

Was wondering if any of y'all have chicken kitchens and how you have decorated them?

I got chickens all over!! On top of my cabinets on the counter in my hutch. I love chickens!! Chicken dishes, too! Don' t like wallpaper or borders, tho. But, it's your home and you can do what ever makes you happy!!

When I first got the fever DH said I could put chickens ONLY in the kitchen. Well one day while at the second hand store I spotted a ceramic rooster lamp! It was in new condition and oh so tacky! It was only $5 and I wanted it so bad!! I left it behind though. Later I mentioned it to DH. Well the next day he went and bought it for me!

So now we have a kitchen full of chjickens and 1 wonderful rooster lamp in the living room. My DH named him Bob!

I have been thinking about a chicken border as well, havn't found just the right one yet! Have fun decorating!

This is the one I was thinking about getting. http://www.usawallpaper.com/blhenhowabo.html

I
only wanted a border because they are easy to remove. I will match some paint and put the border at the half wall and perhaps repeat along the ceiling. I looked at many and often I did not like the colors. This one has more colors and is a little cheerier than some others. Many were "folk arty" looking. I liked the chics in this one as well.

What a great hubby to get you the chicken lamp. My hubby has also said chickens only in the kitchen. I have not yeat started collecting. We have had chickens just since this summer and have not had time to garge sale and thrift store, looking for bargains.

They had some great ones at our feed store, dishes etc. but were kinda spendy. Oh well, there is always mothers day.

Thanks for the link! That is a perfect choice! I browsed through them and that is def one of the best. I have been going to paint my kitchen for some time now. We just painted the living room at Christmas. Our home has an open floor plan so you see all of the living space from the front door. I am having a time trying to find colors that blend.

I hope you post pictures when you are done with your project!

My DH is really good at noticing that sparkle in my eye when I really want something. He always lets me know how much he appreciates the fact that a $5 thrift store lamp keeps me happy!

O.k. you asked for it!!!!!!

I have seen so many homes that overdo the chicken/rooster thing, that I decided to accent with chickens/roosters.

I mixed in a good mix of antiques to give that old fashioned farm look.

You can see the paper towel holder has a chicken on the top for an accent

Mixed in with several antique coffee grinders (one is above the fridge) and a picture saying "Fresh roasted coffee served here"

And to keep with the overall theme without overdoing the "chickens" thing, I used a border that has a coffee, bakery theme above the antique coffee grinders.

You can see the little candle on the shelf that has a rooster on it.

And last but not least: Our door stopper (with dust

Like LUVMGIRLS said, you asked for it. My wife actually suggested the Chicken border before we ever had Chickens because she knew I liked Chickens.

The Border (Inspiration for the Room)

Then my wife said - Enough Chickens in the Kitchen.

Little did she know, we would have A chicken house, Silkie Chalet and a flock in the barn. Oh and a Incubator and brooder in the Basement. It is an obsession and I admit it.
