I have been working on gypsy face and was wondering if anyone else out there is doing some experimenting with it? I am trying to get a single combed black gypsy faced game "type". My beginning broodstock is a blend of sumatra and american game. I appear to have one pullet biddy with a straight comb that is black and gypsy faced. 3 out of 8 have gypsy face. i am wondering if its not incomplete dominant.

From the glossary in ASOP:
"GYPSY COLOR:
Very dark purple approaching black. Found in comb, face, and wattles of Silkies, Sumatras, Birchen and Brown Red Modern Games, and to a lesser degree in Sebrights."

I'm guessing 'gypsy face' is same as 'gypsy color'.

"Gypsy face" is used in the game world same as "gypsy color". Honestly, I am not sure if it didnt derive as a slur. I personally prefer to use dark face since I know a few people who have Rom family members and might take it as a slur. Obviously the chicken (game) world uses other slur names as descriptive terms. Anyway the pics were from a few weeks ago and all the white oon the chests has molted out. There are a few with white flights but I am sure those will molt out as well. I have been toying with the idea of adding the Fm gene once I get type stable. I want to create a black/blue/ black-red "SE asian island like village chicken".
