Anyone ever help a chick out of an egg?

Mama was sitting on 6 eggs and 4 hatched yesterday. The egg I was most hoping would hatch was left abandoned along with one more. I kept putting the 2 eggs under mama everytime she sat down with her babies under her and just now I heard chirping coming from the egg and it has one tiny crack. Do I just leave it, or help the chick out? If so, how?

Leave it. Unless you're set up with an incubator, and know exactly how and when to help it, you may do more harm than good. I wish you the best.

Believe it or not, my daughter found said egg in the pasture just now. One of the dogs picked it up when the hen got off it. I still hear movement and it is now safely back under mamma who has gone to bed. I'll update tomorrow
