anyone ever used a broody muscovy to incubate goose eggs?

it will work if your Muscovy is broody

most birds don't think 21 days 28 day or 35 days but incubate from instinct of egg development

they seem to know what's going on in the egg

so an attentive broody will sit till hatch day regardless of how long it is

That's why the Cuckoo is such a successful bird

thanks. the goose and scovy have similar hatch times and i figure a waterfowl would work. my scovies can hatch 24 eggs so 9 goose eggs each may just work. hand turning is not really an option

Yes! you can use them to hatch almost anything. I've set peafowl eggs under them and they did excellent job..

BUT. some(many?) muscovy ducks may kill the babies of other species when they hatch because they sound "wrong" to her.. like some would kill the peachicks as they hatched. If really valuable eggs, would be best to move to hatcher for hatching, just in case.

I would not be game to do peafowl under a water fowl. The goose eggs are not overly valuable. My peafowl eggs will be priceless!!
