I've been searching for a photo of someone holding a langshan hen. Or a langshan next to another breed for size comparison. I know they get big, but I can't visualize just how big. Are they comparable to a Wyandotte? I didn't know much about the breed when I picked one up from the co-op (still learning), but have since fallen in love with her personality. She's like a little chicken puppy dog!

She's still about the same size as the cream legbar I have her with. Although, if I remember right, they are slow growing. She's 9 weeks right now.

Yes, this breed is typically slow to mature, as are many other large breeds. The hens typically get about as big as a Wyandotte rooster, maybe a bit smaller, and the roosters as large as a standard Cochin or large Brahma rooster. They are gentle giants, and are very sweet. Good luck with your flock!! :)

Here are some photos for you. I love mine. They are sweethearts.

I had a croad langshan cockerel. I thought it was a pullet until 6 mths old. It looked just like a pullet. Acted like a pullet too. He crowed at 6 mths and then very quickly grew the roo feathering. He is very tall. A big chicken! Here is a photo of him nest to a black australorp pullet, and she is a big pullet.

Here's my Mum's Langshan, Fluffy, next to a British Araucana (so a light breed) and there's a Coronation Sussex in the background. Yes, Langshans have the most beautiful personalities. Fluffy is patient with the children (despite not being brought up around kids), calm and serene. She's quite a bit bigger than my Mum's Wyandottes - more Sussex/Orpington sized.
