im getting ready to incubate some bobwhite quail chicks under a broody hen(and please dont say thats not a good idea. i already know)and i would really like to see how small they are compared to something so i know.
thanks. cole.

Cole, I know you don't want to hear it but that isn't a great idea. If she is a bantam hen then that is okay. But if she is a standard hen I would be warry of putting quail chicks under her.
Here is a shot of a few bobwhite chicks in a brooder...regular toilet paper roll for size comparison.

I've got a couple of tiny mixed breed bantams that I'm hoping will go broody for me this year so I can stick some bob white eggs under them. Here's a pic of last years hatch in my homemade incubator with the themometer and a regular chicken egg and quail egg to compare.

good picture. is there a big difference in size between say, cochin bantams and bobwhite chicks?

Yes there is a considerable size difference. I have standard cochins, so we wont go there... I also have tiny class "a" seramas and at hatch if both are compared side by side the smallest serama chick is at least 3 to 4 times the size of the biggest bob white chick. Hope that helps...

wow! thats a big difference. thanks. that does help though. do you have any pictures of your "a" class seramas next to a bobwhite quail chick?

Also are you planning on doing this, now? I see you are in Ohio...based on what I have seen for the weather of both our states this is not the time of year at all that I would be putting quail chicks under a broody. Or even standard chicks for that matter. You will be wasting time, money, and birds if you try this now.
