I have 3 lefhorn hens that got bumble foot they have been healing slowly but surely but its been almost a month and the one still has signs of infection I was hoping to get some home remedie ideas to try before I contact a vet for antibiotics. She was starting to get better but I just noticed her foot was swelled alittle again and still fairly on the warmer side. We change bandages a few times a week and use a antibacterial dip when changes the bandages. Any help would be appreciated 😊

Maybe you have to change the bandage with disinfectant more often. :idunno
No experiance with bumblefoot myself. Did you find any info in the article section?

I will try tonight once I change her bandages. All 3 had both feet with scabs 2 had very swelled and infected feet one still has the infection the other has been healing up very well. 2 of the 3 hens feet have healed to the point of not needing bandages on one foot each. We had to extract the core on all feet due to how severe they were. The one with a swelled foot yet still has liquid infection come out if sqeezed a bit. We followed steps show on the post on here about bumble foot so we did pretty good on knowing when it needed extracted etc what items to use to do everything etc. This is my first ever dealings with bumble foot and I got 3 hens right away and since I found them I found no other breeds have it just 3 of my 4 leghorn hens having it.

In cases where surgery was ineffective, you will find most vets recommend antibiotics, since some of the treatments we do are merely topical, and can't penetrate into the bacteria-filled tissue we need them to. If you have already lanced the area, soaked it in antiseptic, and applied antibacterial ointments, along with bandaging for a few weeks, and that didn't work, it's possible you may have to result to that. I look forward to the pictures.

Thats actually a really big reason I held off on asking for advise about them since alot of what I read did say it could take a few weeks depending on how bad they were. the moment I found them I separated all 3 from the flock and I actually discard all 3 eggs mostly because of there being infection im not sure who's egg is who. Also all the research I did I dont recall anyone saying anything about what they do with their eggs so id rather not take a chance of anyone getting a possible infection carried threw the eggs if thats possible.

All 3 honestly havnt lost their appetites or wanting to drink all are active the only thing ive noticed is pinkie the worst of the 3 lifts her leg from time to time but her other foot healed super nice (we call her pinkie because that's the color of vet wrap I use on her lol)
