Hey fellow duck parents.
I have a duck worth a crooked bill. She gets plenty of food and is at a healthy weight. But she can’t seem to pretend her back half or her underbelly and so of course has wet feathers. Her oil glands produces plenty of oil she just can’t get it spreads around right with the messed up bill.
Has anyone had success doing that for a duck?

I don’t know if that can be done perhaps maybe someone will come along who has been successful. I wonder what you would use maybe a paintbrush or something, but in order to get it spread evenly all the feathers would certainly be an ordeal
In the meantime, I would just keep her inside when it’s going to rain or snow .

Thank you. The paintbrush is a great idea. I’ve read several articles that say when a gland has been clogged and is then cleared to give the duck 2 weeks to get itself waterproofed again. So I’m going to work it for 2 weeks while keeping her out of the water. We shall see.

Majestic Waterfowl sanctuary has a couple of good articles about the Oil gland. But your duck soiled gland is fine right it’s just the way her bill is she can’t really use it to preen properly? Would you post pictures?
