I've been doing pottery for a few months and wanted to know if anyone else does pottery. If you do, do you make anything besides pots? I make bowls, vases, cups, and plates.

Haha. I did a stocking ornament in Brownies lol. Seriously, I would love to learn how to do pottery. I wanted to take that course in college but it was an all day class and I couldn't ever seem to fit it in. It would be so cool to have a kiln.
I have taken a class, I really liked it but I need more practice throwing. For Christmas everyone got either a mug or bowl and an ornament! They loved them (I think
I do lots of art stuff. When I was the director of an art association, we did programs for school children tht included a tour of the gallery, an art demonstration and a hands on project (usually print making). I always loved throwing pots for the demo; its like magic for children to see a lump of clay turn into a pretty little vase or bowl right before their eyes. I don't really do it anymore, but I loved it when I did. Thanks for reminding me; I'm smiling now as I remember it...
I've been making pottery since 2003. Started taking classes then and found I just love it!! I have a mini studio at home (wheel, kiln, slab roller) but find that I never have time to use it, so I continue to take classes each week this way I ensure I get a couple hours of playing with clay in each week... plus I like my teacher and classmates and it gets me out of the house (I work from home).
I have made many different things mostly functional pottery (e.g., cups, bowls, plates, colanders, pitchers, platers, baskets, flower pots, jars) but I've also made some more decorative things (wall hangings, cats, owls, pumpkin votives) and this past winter I made a table lamp. It's a great hobby, I really wish I had more time to play. You can make almost anything out of clay!
