I don't really FREAK OUT when my kids are sick, and I try to avoid going to the doctors office if at all possible! (they usually end up with some other virus, LOL!) Its just that they have both had ticks on them recently, and I worried a little about Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.
On the other hand, if this is Fifths.....there isn't really anything to do for them at this point...right? From what I read online, the contagious period ends when the rash starts, AND the rash doesn't itch or anything.

No other symptoms at all!!!
If anyone has an opinion, or has seen this type of rash before, please comment and give me your thoughts........

That could be, but when my kids have gotten it, it's finer looking. More dots, less clumps. Does it get worse with heat, like a bath?

I think its also called "slapped cheek" disease - as it comes with bright red cheeks.
The rash is Lace like - so that does fit in with those pics!

fifths disease shows on there face first. It looks like a freshly slapped cheek. a lacey rash will then progress downward.

I can't tell from the pics but is the rash accompanied by a sore throat? It could be strep.

Try blanching the skin...put your thumbs on the rash and pull slightly apart. If the rash blanches out I would just watch it. If it doesn't or doesn't go away in a day or two I would see a doc. You might want to try an antihistimine in case that are reacting to something that way.

I am not a med. prof just a mom of 5. So take my advice as such.

I looked at that very website......and it really sounds like Fifths........and my son reminded me of one day last week when I commented on how red his face was, and that he needed to come inside and cool off. But, of course, I never dreamed he would have a virus....lol!

And Wendy: No sore throat. I looked at some strep sites, and it all says 'Itchy rash'.

if it were itchy I would say a skin yeast infection.
Either way a trip to the doctor is the only way you should get a diagnosis
