I live in New England, and I was just wondering about different fish species that are pond stockable.

I am looking for a breed of fish that can survive in waters less than 15ft deep, can reproduce, and are able to withstand winters where the pond top freezes over. Are there any species that are capable of this? What do they require to thrive?

THANKS!!

I'd call a pond place. Or a place that specializes in fish.. they will be able to tell you what fish will survive the winters up here..
Good luck!

Your state fish and game department may have info on what species would do well and possibly contact info for hatcheries to buy from. Here in Oregon the challenge is to not bring in a non native species that can wreak havoc if the fish get flooded out of the pond. Some species of trout and salmon do well in ponds if the summer water temps stay cool enough.
