Anyone know anything about Nielsen ratings?

I got a letter in the mail from them today and I keep finding conflicting information about them. They even went so far as to include a whole $2 in the envelope. I'm extremely confused as to who they are and what they do.

The Nielson ratings are for television viewing. That is how they determine how many people of certain age groups watch particular TV shows. I recently did the same thing for radio in our area. We got $20.00 for our time. It was neat to be able to have my listening habits have a possible affect on local radio programming.

yes they do my family did the Nielson thing about 20 years ago and yes they pay you cash like you got in the mail, not much but a little. You might as well do it, just beware someone may be using their name to scam, it happens time to time with any big named orginization, all they should ask is how many in your home their age ranges like 10-15 15-20 21-25 25-30 31-40 40-60 and 60+ something like that and what shows you watch when it is in a survey form kinda like stanardised test forms you fill in circles and mail it back and they send you a few bucks, kinda like some people earn money doing surveys online. You won't get rich or earn a living on it, but it helps out a little for a few minutes invested.

My husband has worked for them for 18 years now. There are different areas to Nielsen and different levels of participation. The diary is just one aspect of what they do. Do it if you want, there is nothing to lose
