Anyone ordered BCMARANS from a hatchery and gotten ones that DO lay really dark eggs?

Just curious if anyone has ordered from a hatchery and gotten any birds that lay nice, dark eggs? Or a bird that really was French Standard bred as many of the sites purport?

I'm would think you'd get a inbetween shade of brown but defiantly not as dark as breeder birds. I would also doubt very much that they were bred to the french standard.

NO, I ordered a special on them paid 9.50 a chick. Got eggs that were the same shade as orpingtons.
I ordered eggs. Hatched out. Once they started laying I took the egg and showed some of the girls that work there, what a true marans should lay.

No, they are not as dark as the REAL Marans do..... heard alot of folks are disappointed.......

Thanks for the feedback. That is what I anticipated. We ordered some Cuckoo Marans and there eggs are slightly more pigmented and have pretty speckling but nothing like what I have seen from breeders online.
