I just ordered 4 baby BB Bronze Turkeys St Run from ideal and a notice came across about the small orders and adding chicks as packing peanuts. Is that for Turkeys too? I wasn't sure what to expect. My husband was excited he's already planning for Thanksgiving Dinner and Bar-B-Q Dinner.

I ordered my Turkeys last yr from Ideal, BB whites. I liked them and the growth rate was very good. Just be very carefull as I raised them and by the time Thanksgiving rolled around they were very very big, smallest one 26 lbs= 4 mo old, 35 lbs 5 mo old, 51 lb Tom =6 mo old. He did not fit in the oven. they all cooked up very nice and tasted great.

This was my husbands idea since I talked him into chickens twice. We ordered the BB Bronze due to price and some of the others were not available. Do they actually put chicks in with them too?

I don't know if they ship with the chicks, they certainly could. But when you get them home be sure to raise them seperately from your chickens. some folks do but to be honest it is just fool hardy to do so, because of blackhead disease.

In 20+ years of raising chickens and turkeys and ducks and geese and peafowl together often from the day of hatch until they pass from old age. Never had a case of blackhead here- there are quite a few other breeders that do the same thing and also have no problems.

I ordered bbb from ideal yesterday to. I ordered 25 total birds I got 20 modern games and 5 bbb poults. I only ordered the poults because they didnt have my first choice of MGB available and I want them yesterday!

I have a question for al6517:

you said the following:I ordered my Turkeys last yr from Ideal, BB whites. I liked them and the growth rate was very good. my question is this I would like to butcher my turkeys at 8 weeks old. since you had this same kind do you think that they will be the size of a large chickens at that age? I have a family of four and Idont want to have to much left over. and I am not suppose to have the birds any way. I was thinking of keeping them in a a stall in the garage. and 2 months isnt that long.

you can butcher them anytime you want.maybe do one early and see how much meat is on it then decide the rest from there..you may want to wait awhile with the rest to get more meat on them..I raise mine with chicks sometimes and never had a problem,

Does anybody know whether they will ship turkeys and guineas together? I was unaware you could order as few as 4 poults from Ideal. I thought they had a minimum of 10.

When I ordered a notice specified a minimum purchase of $20.00 but then they charge extra for the small purchase. All together I think my total was $28.00. I finally got a reply back which said they will put extra rooster chicks in for warmth. Which is a bonus to me. More meat for the freezer.
