Is anyone else near Topanga and a chicken addict to boot? I'm hoping to connect with others to start foundation flocks the right way (good/known bloodlines). My interests are blue eggs (not green), dark brown eggs, terracotta eggs, and dazzling chickens that will take my breathe away out in the garden. Obviously interested in Ameraucanas, Araucanas (hope I got the spelling right, I'm missing a key on my macbook), Black Copper Marans, Welsummers, Pendenescas, Barnvelders, Blue Orpingtons, Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, Silver Laced Wyandottes, and........ oh, and several brooders to help out (Silkies and Cochins?).
I guess it's a good thing I have five acres to fill this bill. Oh and I'm looking for a good Anatolian Shepard for the flock if anyone has a lead on that as well.

I'm in the SFV (North Hills), and just wanted to wish you luck with your search for the types of chickens you want. Are you planning on hatching eggs?

I am in the Antelope Valley near the AFB. Check out the California Chickens and Southern California chickens Yahoo groups. there are a lot of great people on there that have some beautiful birds from great lines. Also check out the poultry shows. There is one in Freson on the 19th and in Bakersfield in March. There will be one in Ventura in April.

Hi
I'm in Topanga Canyon
I have 13 hens, and 5 chicks. They are a mixture of breeds including black copper marans, Olive eggers, bantams, wynadottes etc. There are lots of chicken keepers in Topanga ...

Hi - I live in Woodland Hills, right down the street. I have a coop with now 3 hens (one of our chicks turned out to be a rooster - can't have that in our neighborhood!). 1 Rhode Island, 1 Black Sexlink and 1 Americauna. They are all laying!

I am looking to add to my flock - prefer to add at least 1 more Americauna and a couple others - not sure of which breed yet. We do free range them so they will be happy little chickies!

Red Barn in Tarzana has a flock of Bantams for sale - 3 hens and a rooster. I just called, but i can't have the rooster. They want to keep them together.

i just found your post and i realize that was written some time ago, but we are currently moving to topanga canyon and in a bit of a situation...

we do not have the space right now for our hens wondering if you have extra space? i have 2 silver laced wyandottes, 1 shy buff/red girl which i'm not sure what she is but we adopted her a long time ago. i also have 2 light brahma, they are 4 months old and i've been keeping them separated since they were chicks, and recently i have been slowly introducing them together but my adult girls have been terrorizing them and won't let them enter the flock. so i need to keep them separate.

i am also willing to let my brahma's go, sadly, and keep my 3 adults, if it means giving my brahmas a happier life.

if you are interested or have any suggestions, please let me know.

thank you!
