Anyone raise mealworms?

I was wondering if anyone raises mealworms for their chickens? Do you keep the mealworms/beetles inside or outdoors? I'm tempted to start, but not too keen on keeping bugs in my house. Haha.

On the porch. Super easy and not all that gross. Kind of started as a summer science project, but it’s been simple.

There are a few articles here on BYC by people who do. Interesting, and probably a good idea! I’m all in favor of (nearly) free feed!

Same here! I just started sprouting wheatgrass for them as well to save money on feed.

I (often) ferment feed because it expands, and it's supposed to save money and create more nutrients. It's ridiculously easy. I have no idea whether or not it saves money; with my four chickens I'm not doing the math. I also pick lots of weeds every day, and let them out when I can.
