Anyone read Japanese or Chinese?

I have this scroll thingy on my wall and want to know what it says....

I can't read Japanese calligraphy, otherwise I'd see if I could help you out. Do you have a pic you could post? At the very least, I might be able to tell you which language it is.

If you take a good picture of it and send it to me, I'll have my brother translate it for you. He was a linguist in the Navy for 28 years. If I remember correctly, he speaks 13 different languages and Chinese and Japenese are two of them.

I have always wanted to learn how to speak Japanese. I did check for a class at our local community college. They don't offer Japanese.
