Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyone's had experience successfully introducing a new born chick to a chicken that is incubating her eggs?
Turns out I have a chick that was born today (don't even know of the other eggs that were in the nest have chicks in them; the hen left them two nights in a row and I thought they had all failed), and I have a hen that's a really good mom that is incubating eggs (also not sure if they're sterile or if they have chicks; it's been some time since she started sitting on them).
So should I try and leave the chick and the eggs in the nest when she leaves it? Could it work? Could it be dangerous for the chick...? The chick's healthy and strong (it surprised me).
Any advice is welcome and appreciated, thanks.
